Everbridge Acquires Unified Messaging Systems: Creates the World’s Largest Global Critical Event Management Organization
We are excited to announce that Unified Messaging Systems (UMS) is now part of Everbridge. This acquisition brings UMS’s innovative and proven large-scale, mobile population alerting technology, as well as its mass notification and crisis management applications, to our Critical Event Management (CEM) software platform. As a combined business, we are dramatically strengthening our expertise and market position in Europe and Asia, becoming the leading player in international markets.
Together, Everbridge and UMS will enable an unparalleled set of solutions to help customers assess threats, initiate and manage incidents, and notify an increasingly mobile population of stakeholders at a country level, and across the globe.
Given the importance of mobile delivery internationally, UMS’s unique ability to message the mobile phones of anyone connected to a carrier’s cell towers significantly enhances Everbridge’s ability to protect people worldwide. UMS also provides Location-Based Alerting technology which enables municipalities to geographically pinpoint where to send notifications within a region. UMS has deployed this capability as part of national warning systems for multiple countries including Sweden, the Netherlands, the Bahamas, Singapore, Greece, Cambodia, and a number of the largest states in India, to name a few. This is equally applicable for national and global companies who want to reach local and traveling employees.
UMS is also one of the leading mass notification providers internationally, with over 1000 customers, for example, in Northern Europe. Its crisis/emergency management product, Previstar, is used for planning and resource management purposes by a number of major public safety agencies in such places as Virginia, Georgia, Massachusetts, West Bengal in India, as well as by the US Navy. Previstar will considerably enhance Everbridge’s crisis management capabilities.
Having sent over 2 billion notifications in 2017 to people in over 200 countries and territories, the Everbridge platform will now include the reach of UMS, which delivers more national alerting solutions than any other entity in the world and reaches over 500 million people with public notifications. Together we will provide the broadest delivery capability for critical communications worldwide.Learn More About Unified Messaging Systems
Stopping to address the media Thursday, near the site of the Starbucks that was destroyed by an EF3 tornado Wednesday afternoon, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence praised Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight, local first responders and community residents. “I will tell you that walking through the neighborhood across the highway — it’s just very moving to me,” the Republican vice presidential nominee said. “... To talk to these families and family members who were in their homes and to see these homes virtually completely destroyed, but because of people’s quick thinking; because of a good early warning system here locally, there’s no serious injury — there’s no loss of life.
